Horseback riding on the balconies of the Cote d'Azur

Late September to June

Enjoy this quiet ride to discover equestrian tourism and fabulous landscapes inaccessible by car. Be charmed by this magnificent region, of an amazing diversity that offers breathtaking panoramas over the Mediterranean and the Alps. A place so wild and yet so close to the coast with its hectic life and its attractive coastal towns such as Cannes, Antibes, Nice or Monaco. Thanks to its southern location, the proximity of the sea and mountains that shield the cold winds from the continent, the region enjoys exceptionally mild winter temperatures which allow not only the planting of citrus, aloe, olive trees, oleanders, bougainvillea or mimosas but also riders to practice their favourite sport throughout the winter.

Day 1 : Arrival, Sainte-Agnès

Welcome at Nice airport or train station. Transfer by minibus to Sainte-Agnes (approx. 40km) Europe’s highest coastal village and also one of the most beautiful France’s village. Sainte-Agnes is located 800 m over sea level and only 3 km from the sea in a straight line. Placed on the hillside like an eagle's nest, the ruins of its castle offer a magnificent view over the bay of Menton. The narrow road leading to this rocky outcrop sneaks along the mountain before offering a beautiful sight over terraces planted with olive and mimosa trees.

Arrival late afternoon in Sainte-Agnes. Dinner and overnight in a gite. (Small guesthouse with multi-bedded rooms)

Day 2 : Sainte-Agnès – Peïra Cava

After breakfast we leave Sainte-Agnes following the ridge path. Mediterranean plants become rarer and are gradually replaced by the mountain flora. This first day ends with a ride through a beech forest. Arrival at the gite in Peïra Cava. Dinner and overnight in cabins.

Day 3 : Peïra Cava – Sainte-Agnès - departure

Breakfast at the gite. We return to Sainte-Agnes by the track of the Becasse, Mont Simonet and col de Braus... A perfect itinerary to discover the Mediterranean flora and to enjoy a breathtaking view over the sea and the Alps. Back to Sainte-Agnes by late afternoon. Transfer to Nice and return journey or extension of stay.
