The Mediterranean coastline, the countryside of Provence, cities full of art and history, the southern Alps, the Rhone riverbanks and the generous expanses of nature combine to make Provence a multi-faceted region.

Thus it is very diverse, but there are also many similarities that forge the unity of Provence : clear, blue skies ; a quality of light combining both strength and softness; stark, rich colours; Mediterranean vegetation of vineyards, olive groves, almond trees and lavender fields ; the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea ; a melodious way of speaking ; the cuisine and houses. Provence has always been eminently attractive and accessible, which has produced a very rich patrimony.

Historic and religious sites, museums, "bastides" (typical houses), and castles are all proof of this rich past : Romanesque Provence in Arles, Nimes, the Pont du Gard, Orange, Vaison, St Remy, etc. Medieval Provence in Avignon (the Popes' Palace), in Arles ( Cistercian abbeys and other churches) Renaissance and classical Provence in Aix-en-Provence, Marseilles and Avignon XIXth- and XXth-century Provence immortalised by painters like Cézanne and Van Gogh, who were enchanted by the light.

The mosaic of landscapes is extraordinary : the majestic Rhone, the lush region of the Comtat Venaissin, the garden of Provence, the nakedness of Mont Ventoux, the light on the hills of Provence, the rich variety of fauna and flora of the Camargue, the colourful coastline of the Mediterranean, the vertiginous Verdon Canyon, etc. People also love Provence for its wonderful "art de vivre", gastronomy and restaurants, vineyards and living traditions : colourful markets and the atmosphere of summer festivals ; traditional festivals celebrating lavender, the "Saintes Maries", the "gardians" of the Camargue ; Christmas traditions, etc.

Given such a rich variety, transglobe offers a diverse choice of programs, in order to present the particular face of Provence you want to see.
