It would be difficult not to succumb to the charms of Brittany, and be seduced by this land that came to be out of the whims of water, wind and time. The “finis terrae” of the Romans has everything it needs to enchant visitors.
Along the coast, the sheer cliffs give way to fine sand beaches; the ancient fishing villages coexist peaceably with seaside resorts like Saint Malo, the rose-coloured granite coast, the Crozon Peninsula, the Pointe du Raz and the Pointe du Van, the Concarneau area, the Quiberon Peninsula, the Morbihan Gulf, the beaches of La Baule and several islands, each with their own distinctive personality. Here, the sea is a living heritage, and every Breton is proud of it.
Inland, the heather gives way to undulating mountain ranges, lakes and marshes, where oases of green are waiting to be discovered.
Brittany is also a place where the people are proud of their roots, and have preserved their customs and traditions. Stories and legends have led to a first-rate artistic patrimony: parish enclosures, Locronan, Quimper, the walled cities of Saint Malo, Concarneau, Vannes and Auray… In addition to these well-known walled cities, Brittany has numerous chapels nestling on the seacoast or in the middle of luscious vegetation, as well as superb traditional houses.
Brittany is also plentiful in gastronomic delights: fish fresh off the boats, seafood, crêpes and galettes, served with cider.
Most of all, there is an enchanted atmosphere in Brittany which makes it special, different. It’s an indescribable feeling that you experience when you are there and that makes Brittany unforgettable when you leave…
